MESRC Adventure Challenge 2008

After a lacklustre week where i completed my netball OTC, did footscan for Adidas and bought myself a new wallet from Braun Buffel.. I finally did something interesting! The MESRC Adventure Challenge! The team: Alan, Alfiyan,Isnarti and Alex

We had to check-in the night before on friday at 9pm for the briefing and they gave us the event shirts and lodging. Went through the event briefing(albeit a quite funny one) coz everyone was asking kinda juvenile questions.. teachers trying to be funny with the organiser which was Camelot Pte Ltd. One of the outdoor camp providers...

Couldnt sleep coz there was this guy who snores so badly like a locomotive! Goodness..

Finally woke up and had breakfast, did some warm-up and then got ready for the race.

THE RACE:
1. It was a sea start; we launched our kayaks and started heading for SparkC and then did an about turn to head back to MOE CCAC. A couple of boats capsized here and there. It was quite a cool place to kayak early in the morning at 7am as the scenery was great.

2. Reached back CCAC, Alfiyan and Isnarti did the abseil and after that all four of us picked up our bikes and headed for bedok jetty. Isnarti's bike was faulty and i took over her bike. Gears and seat both not working.. Was really having a frustrating time riding such a lousy bicycle. Its name is "Qianghao" omigosh. Not in a million years would i want to see that brand again. Did a loop and headed back to CCAC from bedok jetty.

3. This time me and alan had to to the challenge rope course; the confidence jump where we had to climb the pole and jump to catch the handle/trapeze. I went up, got really scare and took a jump and went for it. To my amazement, i caught it! haha.. Alan did so as well..

4. Then we headed off for our 15km hike/run: On the park connectors all the way till changi exhibition centre then we headed into the forested areas.. Lotsa low lying trees.. by this time it started to pour like crazy.. It reminded me of korbu/pulau ubin Expedition3.. Heavy downpour and i had no windscreen.. haha.. But thank God for the rain. I wouldnt want to have it any other way. It was so shiok and cooling that i felt that my body was in same osmotic gradient with the rain.. We had to push is all the way coz she was stopping to walk most of the time..

5. then did a loop to head back to CCAC.. last pit stop was to do a river crossing..across this canal.. Quite cool and fun.. But by this time we were all shivering coz it was SUPER cold.. But once we got into the "river" we just whack.. it was cool. Then finally the home run of about 1km back to CCAC.

Alan had to catch a flight so he left first. This is us with our finisher medals and we ended in 5th place! And we had a prize as well.. Cool Stuff.. This race has been good ah.. everything was free.. no need to pay for registration, food.. Got medal,prize and event shirt.. Shiok! =)
