Cross-Country Skiing @ Strathcona Wilderness Centre

Finally we've arrived!
Cross-Country Skiing is one of the must-do things in Canada! And finally we have done it with the UAOC's introduction to skiing course. It is held at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. We carpooled there and had to cook and pack our lunch the night before.

So i cooked Stir-fried black pepper Udon with egg. Nice eh?! Alwyn made the pancakes for breakfast!

The wilderness centre is a 30 minute drive from Edmonton and Strathcona County is abit ulu and has loads of oil refineries as though they are chucked outside the city. Well, u get the idea.
Our driver is David Thomson, a dude from BC, who was quite nice and told us alot about Vancouver.
The centre was filled with loads of people. We had a 2 hour lesson which is really everything essentially supposed to be taught in 6 days cramped into 2 hrs. So it was really productive in learning the skills. Nonetheless we went to slopes to slide down and learnt how to brake and change direction why coming downhill.
ITs really FUN! and a good cardiovascular workout as well!

The centre signboard
At the skis holding area, the skis and ski boots are light and nice to wear!
Waiting for instructions to ski down a slope by the instructor..

Then coming back uphill is really tough! You keep sliding downwards..Taking a breather....After lunch break! Now for a guided tour round the trails!

Skiing has been a blast!

I love this sport and want to do it whilst the snow is still around before it melts in Spring!

I hope reading week at Calgary would be fun and maybe can ski more in Banff! Woohoo~

Things I gotta do after reading week!

1. Visit Sarah's Church

2. Visit Glen's Farm and shoot Gophers.

3. Toboganning at Maligne Canyon

4. Intro to Ice Climbing at Nordegg

5.Kayaking with Glen and Jason at Sasketchwan River
